Marshall County Auxiliary Radio Service - MCARS

The purpose of MCARS is to provide emergency communication for Marshall County, Alabama when conventional means are inadequate. MCARS is organized under the Marshall County Local Emergency Planning Committee to serve as assigned by the Marshall County EMA. The group seeks to build working relationships with other area emergency organizations. The group is recognized as a RACES unit by the Marshall County EMA.

If you are interested in getting involved with the MCARS unit, feel free to attend a meeting. We meet every third Thursday of the month at 6:30 pm. You do not have to be a radio operator to join.

Who We Are

The General Membership is comprised mainly of dedicated volunteer FCC licensed amateur radio operators who have met and maintain compliance with the MCARS membership criteria. We are friend and family that you know in the county. We may be ARRL members. We may be ARES members. We may be SkyWarn members. We are business owners, workers, and retired citizens of Marshall County that care to make a difference. Most all members are National Weather Service (NWS) certified storm spotters. MCARS is an operating, emergency ready, radio group. Many of the members are CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) trained. There are involvement levels that allow for your desires and interest for involvement. The training time required span from very little to significant.
